no but like, it is NOT objectively bad. There is clearly a huge amount of skill that goes into it and the people who create it are extremely technically skilled, furthermore who are you to say whether or not they are using it as a modus of expression? Have you personally interviewed hundreds of concept artists and asked them? I haven't, and I'm not going to make an objective claim on it, but neither should you.
It has merit in several areas and is lacking in others, and which areas carry that merit is really dependent on the point of reception/their relation to the point of emission; that is the fucking nature of subjectivity x~x

IMO putting such oppressive restrictions on what can be considered art goes against the meaning of art and the freedom of expression it carries...Usually people who are into the avant-garde and abstract art are pretty big on that, but you seem to have ironically enough, utilized that as a tool to restrict the boundaries of the definition... weird...

pretty much. even worse is how they cant let go and just accept that there are people who have different opinions than them.

also while that pic of the naked armor chick is good, it's just so horribly cheesy in its content.
at least ghost in the shell more or less justified the character's nakedness.also they didn't portray the body in an overly sexualized way and instead went for a more "human" look. "human" isn't the right word. what i mean is that the major's body is much more aesthetic while the chick in the robot suit looks like a cheap slut, a fat man's fantasy whose nakedness serves absolutely no purpose than to satisfy the fat guy's mind in a very blunt and childish way. i guess the audience is different. GitS obviously targets a more serious audience, in story as well as in design. thus we may say the chick in the robot suit is the art equivalent of a micheal bay movie

A movie about a Bisexual cyborg that wears therm optic camouflage that requires her to be naked, Motokos body definitely has sexuality in mind, theres no other reason for cyborgs that cannot reproduce to have lactating organs on their chests, and there is no reason other than sex appeal to make them round and bouncy, I mean this from the context of ghost in the shell's world as well

Such "imagination" provoking, open space paintings are plentiful, but to me they are all boring. I would be more interested not looking to things as a whole, not doing work more with my imagination around that open space, but to the closer textures and more detailed objects. Such openness just dulls the details, and it might involve a plethora of irrelevant appendix to the painting.

>> No.1750773

>>1750754
yeah but the keyword is "oversexualized" which i used to describe that exo-chick.
obviously a naked human body is always going to be something sexual. however, the way the body is portrayed in GitS has an aesthetic to it that the other pictures doesn't even come close to. the body itself represents one of the major themes in the movie; the cyberisation of humans. the way she looks naked and fleshy with all her skin and bones is a contrast to what lies beneath that: technology. it's not just nakedness for the sake off jerking off.
the nakedness of the exo-chick doesn't add anything to the picture. the nakedness in GitS does.

>and there is no reason other than sex appeal to make them round and bouncy

and it's motoko's choice to use that body. it's the future, there are beauty standards and there is the technology to make you look the way you want. by the end of the movie, she has the body of a child, which then again represents one of the major ideas of the movie.

also i dont think they ever tell you how much of a machine she actually is. chances are that the way she looks is based on her actual body or it may be a modificated version of her actual body.

>theres no other reason for cyborgs that cannot reproduce to have lactating organs on their chest

That's a claim. Prove it. Dont think they ever say that Cyborgs can't reproduce.
Motoko is still a human, you know. And as one she can have sex. And even if she was a robot, she might still be able to have sex and reproduce because technology.
But then again, we are talking about Cyborgs. They are humans. Only parts of their bodies are robotic.

Now please try to justify why a police officer would look like that exo-chick. This design doesnt fulfill any other purpose than gathering to neckbeards

Not a favorite artists, I don't have one, there are too many of them.

Rather I like - sometimes remember - the ones that struck me, and if I still comprehend similarly as I did back then, get emotions in similitude to my memory, I continue to like them.

Here is one I newly discovered. There is something dark and enigmatic about his paintings, all grotesque and expressive. He caches that fear of the strange and unknown, .

I don't feel like that's an appropriate uniform or attitude for a policewoman. I mean, her power armor doesn't cover any vitals save her brain, and the exposed vagina would be extremely unprofessional. I mean, what if she had to deal with children as officers do, or how could she speak to a citizen who is against thoughtless nudity like a Catholic or a Muslim?

I love the picture, but it's just too silly. Also, she wouldn't have a bikini tan if she walk around like that all the time.

Bill Mauldin

>He was a comic strip artist for the Army newspaper during WWII. His comic, "Willy & Joe," were usually based on experiences he had on the front lines of the Italian Campaign.
>This comic here was drawn on by him on the Anzio beachhead with stamp pad ink, not pen ink. This was a comment on how, at the time, the Germans were pushing so hard to throw the Allies into the sea, that the only thing that was stopping them was fucking uninterrupted, point-blank artillery.
>Bill hadn't slept in days, hadn't showered in weeks, and was getting probably one cold meal a day. On top of that, he finished it during a fucking mortar bombardment that the Germans zeroed onto his beach.

People were fucking dying around him and all he could think of was his deadline.
