Let's get an inspiration thread going. Whatever inspires you or motivates you.

I'll start. Sergey Kolesov's work in general is brilliant.

Love love love that painting, but seriously wish that tail fin was different. It would serve zero function for something that swims, let alone something that big. Makes me think the artist completely forgot about it.

I'd something different, but cghub is down.

> It would serve zero function
a lot of fantasy artists venture into the "would serve no purpose" area though, don't they?

i love that painting. i love paintings of nature with a few people or boats or something to really put the size of nature in perspective.

damn i miss cghub, i used to get a lot of inspiration there. conceptart is a joke (slow, unappealing), and drawcrowd just sucks in general. :(

There's a huge fucking difference. One encourages people to crop up great painting to fit some shitty pointless template, with one one per artist per template. This thread gives you new pieces to save directly to your inspiration folder without having to crop and back trace everything.

the inspiration map having the advantage of displaying multiple pieces in a single pic. and really, asking who drew something isn't that hard. are you retarded?
just look at the fucking catalog before you make a new thread.

how do you guys organize your inspiration folder? do you have a folder for each artist or just dump them all in one folder? my folders getting pretty huge and looking for a way to clean it up a little.

I'm not the anon that started this thread, but I much prefer these types of threads than the inspiration maps.

>asking who drew something isn't that hard.
No, but it relies on anons being cooperative, and me remembering to come back to the thread periodically. Realistically, if I see something I like there, I have to copy the file to photoshop, crop out the painting that I want, reverse google search it, find one with good resolution, clarity, and accurate color, then save it. In these threads, if I see something I like I save it in a couple of seconds.

Also, if something looks interesting I want to see the large, uncropped file immediately. I don't like relying on anon's cropping abilities to get a fair assessment of a painting.

Making what harder? Is there a faster way that's also more reliable than hoping anons will post the original image for every painting you want?

I don't see why you oppose this thread existing in conjunction to the other. It's a slow board and nothing is getting bumped into deletion.
