Hello,
This is one of my first times on /ic/, and this is my first attempt at digitally drawing. I use to draw an assload as a kid but stopped in high school, and recently started to doodle in my very rare spare time.

Anyhow, I just wanted to share.

Oh, right, I forgot to mention. I attempted to try the "Alt Art" thing and drew link as I imagined he would look as a modern operator.

How bold and brash! Good stuff, how old are you bro?

Preportions on the arms look off and you need as much help as I do when it comes to orienting the torso in perspective.

If you put your elbows next to your knees you'd find that link'd have a tiny profile and would be leaning over a lot farther.

Bold and brash? More like belongs in the trash.

Same boat as this guy.

I just went out on a whim and ordered a graphics tablet.

I just did this twelve minutes ago and was about to make a thread.
I saw a picture that looked like this, and I have been playing a lot of metroid prime 2 lately.

Yeah, I can see that now. Right arm is too long.

Well, we've all got to start somewhere, right?

holy shit snacks. I spent a good thirty five minutes trying to draw finn from AT using a tutorial and it looked like shit. If i practice for hours almost everyday and watch tutorials how long before I should see improvement?

Years at a time. It's all in muscle memory.

It's gonna be like childhood piano lessons all over again. Slow process. Hopefully it'll turn out the same :/

Progress is measured in months and years, not days and weeks, anon. Now that you're older you're more disciplined and hopefully more dedicated.

Faggo-I mean OP here.

Yeah, I REALLY don't have a lot of free time to practice. I'll probably just do this as a hobby. Very busy with college and what not

>> No.1702047

It's shitty. But that's ok, it's the first step toward being non-shitty. It's better than someone who didn't draw it. Keep drawing, keep posting.

To expand on this, in that time, you'll not just learn to draw Finn, you'd be learning to [draw]. Muscle memory and mileage go hand-in-hand. The goal is to become comfortable with your instrument, and to keep drawing until you reach that point you confidently think, "Yeah... I can draw most anything I put my mind to now".

Thanks, yeah. I think it looked nicer when I was doing it on paper but I know most of y'all could kick my ass on this. This was the first time I used a tablet/pad/whatever it's called.

I doodle once in a while, but I just can't find time to really commit.

Thanks, will do.

Here's a sequence where I tried to draw Garrus.

For some reason I thought it looked better before I put ink over it. And when I look at it head on the perspective/proportions/(I'm not even sure what the term is for what I'm trying to describe is) seemed off, but okay when viewed from the posted angles.
