What did I do wrong in this?

>> No.1686342

the composition is atrocious. what exactly is the focal point, and why is 75 percent of the image just sky when there is nothing interesting going on.
there is no real sense of scale either. I suggest you work on your thumbnails more before you begin rendering.

also, next time post in the draw thread.

Judging by its overall spacious detail. You want to clarify a sense of depth. If that is your intention you need to structure yourself in that environment and clarify more significant elements, by formatting or creating more compositions.

Boring composition. Take a look at this Shishkin image: http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m81ktxUFJ41rynzx8o1_500.jpg

It is a similar composition, but there is more groundspace, a bit of story (people on a path walking), and the big sky has some subtle but interesting clouds. Yours is just too much dead space with no real interest.

We can't critique it proper without knowing exactly what you were going for. What were your intentions with the image, what were you trying to say with it? Or how is it supposed to feel?

Don't get me wrong, you're hitting some targets with it, but I want to know what you wanted.

If I had to guess, I'd also think immediately that you were trying to say something like Shishkin's painting, >>1689569, how it feels absolutely majestic and spacious.

I like it. The composition is exaggerated, and that's what makes it interesting. It really brings attention to the wide open skies.

It's exaggerated but at the same time it feels wimpy. Could pass for an accidentally taken photo.

This kind of thing would be really dope if it was rendered to a high level. It reminds me of how small we are in comparison to the ever expanding heavens. It's a shame most people are always looking down at their phones, rather than contemplating the void. Also it gave me a weird idea. What if space was blue instead of black, or any other color? Imagine living in a universe of red. Just a weird thought...

What the fuck? This thread is still alive?
OP here btw...
Left this thread, what, maybe a week ago. Came back and its the sixth thread. Righto then.

In any case, there was actually going to be a floating creature in the sky, but I never put it in before I made this thread because I thought the rendering sucked fuck, and I had the old bottle o' goon out

This anon has the right idea. And, contrary to the boring illustrators of cl/ic/he, remember Matisse: A mile of green is greener than an inch of it. Some of Rothko's and Klein's images can almost be fallen into.

If this were a massive painting, our own eyes would produce the affects; and if it were textured (as in Yves Klein) it would again have a more interesting affect.

i suppose technically goon isn't cask wine, it's just any made wine. when we were 12 or whatever we used to drink something called 'passion pop' which was this cheap sparkling wine which came in bottles and everything, but i think it qualifies as goon.

Passion pop isn't goon, it's passion pop. If it doesn't come in a bag, it's not goon.
