the lighting on the latisimus d. or whatever it's called on the white guy is too distracting. black guy could use some better foreshortening on his arms, collar bone area and head, if he's supposed to be leaning. if not it looks like he's missing a huge part of his trunk. don't crop at the knees. creates a nasty tangent.

a better sense of weight, power and movement is needed in this. the shorts look like pieces of cardboard and the facial expressions of the characters should better represent what a boxer is thinking.

Perspective on that boat is borked. It looks like I'm viewing it from multiple vantage points at the same time. It doesn't make sense as a whole, and I don't think that ambiguity is adding anything of value.

You also have some bad tangents and poor contrast with that rock (?) on the boat. I keep feeling it's supposed to belong to the giant.

you generally want sort of a bell curve, never a big spike in either extreme (ending of the levels-histogram)

the composition (dark as fuck ship aside) is beautiful and i'm almost tempted to steal the idea and do something with it because i find it really inspiring

From a composition stand point, To make the shrine/crystal stand out more, I think you should make the mountains further back and smaller so the top of the crystal is taller that the mountains. you might have to play around a bit with perspective. Move the people alittle up and right.

Oh and and some nice ass looking atmospheric perspective (is that the word? colors less saturated the farther it is)

I need help, I'm a complete plebian and don't know where to ask.
This board is pretty slow and this thread looks like people are using it, I will post here even though my question is not really related.

How do I "draw" simple forms on a PC without them looking like total shit? I'm not trying to paint a portrait.
If I was to make something that sort of looked like the nike swoosh or the addiddas logo or any simple forms comparable to that, how would I go about it?

I downloaded gimp, but that only does straight lines, if I do anything rounded it looks all wiggely and shitty.
Also all the lines are very pixelated, is there any way to make them "smoother"?

Honestly at this level drawing from life and drawing from photos are both basically equally beneficial.

Don't worry, I've always got these at the back of my head. This painting is actually for me to unwind after grinding through a couple of illustrations with some unfamiliar lighting and some amount of costume design. Doing something plain allows me to study or experiment without getting too worked up about accuracy, design etc. For this one, I'm experimenting with finish (painterly vs. tight rendering) and colors.

It already looks like you're getting to where you want. It looks pretty damn competent already, just put more feathers and make them stand out a little, his face and the feathers is the focus, no? I don't quite know, though, just my two cents.
