While I do agree with some of what you said, I wouldn't say its as simple as just a site to dump your work. Its the community and the hugbox culture that is so rampant there, and Id say you would have to be in total denial to say it had absolutely zero effect on people.

The culture of constant praise, defense of "muh style" and "all critics are haters" mantra that saturates that site is kind of like how parents who spoil their kids rotten and are in such shock when they become self-centered brats and go "I gave my kid everything they wanted, where did I go wrong?!". Out of all the communities ive been, DA is one of the most screwed up Ive ever seen and it does not help that their moderation staff is inconsistent, lazy and suffers from favoritism.
