How do you sharpen your pencil /ic/?

with a knife for life drawing and just with a regular pencil sharpener for animation.
I've been doing clean up with mechanical pencils at the moment because otherwise it's too hard for me to get a consistent line weight

>> No.1560097

The guy in your pic sounds mad, OP.

For sketching, I'll just sharpen my pencil with a regular pencil sharpener. Full pleibean, haven't been arrested by the Loomis police yet.

When I'm doing something more serious, I have a different set of pencils, sharpened with a razor. It may just be me being superstitious about muh pencils though.

Since he is a cartoonist I feel like this is all just one big art project to show us how some people can obsess over small simple processes like sharpening your pencil and how some people will pay someone more money expecting he will deliver better quality even if it's not possible. Like paying premium for gold plated hdmi cables that don't have an advantage over cheap cables.

Ok this guy's a full blown wack-o-loon.
>mad about mech pencils
>returning the shavings because they're "part of the pencil"
>talking shit about people getting mad about it when he was just getting mad about mech pencils
lol. The autism is strong in this one.

If you're going to use a buzzword try and at least use it in the correct context. The word edgy isn't a sentence enhancer to throw around when contrary opinions are voiced.

Sharpening pencils is important.

Paying $15 to a pretentious weirdo to sharpen them when you could easily do it yourself is stupid.

Nope. Still doesn't mean what you think it means.

I actually can't sharpen a pencil to save my life. I much prefer the hassle of dip pens or fountain pens when it comes to traditional.

>> No.1560451

Did...did you all even watch the video? It's so obvious he's bullshitting they might have well just put a giant banner over his head saying "THIS IS A JOKE".

He wears a stately white collared shirt and black apron to sharpen pencils.

He reads a pretentious passage about the emotionally wrenching experience of sharpening pencils while standing in front of a wall covered in dick graffiti.

He goes to an abandoned factory for no discernible reason and waxes philosophical about how we're all going to die fighting each other in an apocalyptic wasteland.

He talks about how he started the pencil-sharpening business as his marriage was ending and how he latched on to it as he was "adrift" professionally and personally.

He says that his clients don't actually use the pencils he sharpens, but keep them as "inspirational talismans".

He explicitly states that he's into making fake advertisements and promotions.

And let us not forget, he charges fifteen fucking dollars to sharpen a pencil.

If you actually believe that he's serious with this then I don't know what to tell you. Congratulations that you've managed to get this far having no critical thinking skills?

Depends. For my 2B ,HB and F/H pencils that i snag for cheap, I use this little electric sharpener my sister got me a couple years ago. Gets them to a nice, sharp point without snapping them.

I do use a blade for my Pilot Croquis (mostly because its just a thick piece of hard graphite that wont fit in sharpener) and some $15 branded hand sharpener for my soft graphites.

Oh man, they fucking got you good you fucker. You do realize a digital connection is either:

A. Yes
or
B. No

The gold-plated shit is a scam carry over from the analog days when it mattered.

Next time don't be a tard and buy a $2 cable from monoprice.

>> No.1561004

>>1560977
Well it's not like the gold plating has 0 advantages. It doesn't tarnish, so there's always a good connection. But neither does the regular zinc(?) coating, and it's all copper underneath, and the less-than-a-hair's-width plating isn't going to have a huge effect on speed.

>> No.1561858

>>1560743

Hertz is a frequency not "speed" it measures the frequency of cycles in an electrical signal.

You bought a gold plated cable because some snake oil salesman told you your TV wouldn't work without it, that's on you dumbass. I bet you also own a Mac.

>> No.1562166

>>1561858
It's a measure of how fast something happens, speed is a perfectly fine word to use. It would be different if it was "High Velocity".

Did you not actually read that line I quoted? Here's another that should spell it out for you
>Many HDMI cables under 5 meters of length that were made before the HDMI 1.3 specification can work as Category 2 cables, but only Category 2-tested cables are guaranteed to work for Category 2 purposes

And like I said already high speed cables are not expensive. They cost the same as just about any other kind of computer cable. You're a paranoid retard who doesn't know anything about electronics.
