Has anyone tried the Surface Pro for digital art? It seems like a cheaper portable alternative for a Cintiq. Considering it rocks a 1080 IPS screen and Wacom based stylus, it seems perfect.

Wasn't wacom supposed to come up with their own tablet this year? Did that ever happen or was it misleading rumors?

They released it - apparently it works like a beast, but has the usual wacom pricetag. The Wacom Cintiq Companion Hybrid 13HD (32GB) runs something like ~$1800. Jumps up another $500 or so if you want more storage.

For that price you might as well get the thinkpad X230t.

Cintiq Companion and Cintiq Companion Hybrid goes on sale in the middle of october.
The non hybrid functions as a portable cintiq Laptop that lets you paint wherever whenever.
The laptop also runs Rome 2 on medium graphics.

It looks to become a awesome tool for painting on the go.
Hoping to buy one the day they release and might upload a picture series to /ic/ with a short review when I get my hands on it.

One of my friends uses the Surface Pro for digital art. It goes alright. For a portable solution it can't be beat presently: in terms of screen quality, the fact it can run photoshop in full and umph.

It's not cost effective though. If you travel and have money, get one. If you don't have money and don't need to travel, stick with your 5" wacom son.

I have the surface pro and I haven't been able to get the pressure sensitivity to work in Paint Tool SAI or Photoshop. I got it to work on sketchbook pro. Honestly I had to resort to plugging in my intuos5 small to use SAI and PS. Surface is really handy for a lot of things and it beats the hell out of any CrApple product I've used.

Dude, there are new drivers to fix the pressure sensitivity issue. Go to the wacom website and get them.

Hey OP, I gave you a quick critique, I hope this helps.

Hmm wonder if it fixes the noticeable and annoying lag I have with PS7 and my slates. For some reason Manga Studio 4 and 5 don't have that problem.

So comparing the Surface Pro with the Wacom Companions, which one is better?
Can you use Wacom tablet pens on a Surface?
How do you install Photoshop on a tablet with no CD drive?

Anyone got the list of cheapfag tablets that are good?
Poorfag here, only got about $50 to spend on one
Thanks in advance

So this is basically the digital hardware thread, right?
Anyone here good with graphics cards? Mine isn't being detected by PhotoShop CS5 for some reason. It's a GTX 760...

Get a used bamboo from eBay. That's what I did and I'm happy with it. I'm also a filthy casual hobbyist so take from that what you will.

If you can spare $1200, get a Samsung ATIV with Windows 8. HD screen, get yourself the Wacom drivers, you're good to go. Battery lasts like 5 hours or so, too (compared to the 3.5 hours of the Samsung 700t).

i've been eyeing to buy a 22" monitor tablet that is not cintiq. Yiynova's revamp'd MVP22UHD or Bosto Kingtee 22HD?

>> No.1556129

i've been thinking of selling my cintiq 22 to buy the Companion Windows, because i like to hold the cintiq on my lap when i draw and i found that the 22" is a bit too big and heavy, however i would still like something i can do a finished product on.
And because i would like it to be portable, so i can draw from life.

>> No.1556154

I went to /g/ to ask about tablets like the rules said, but they just ignored the thread and never replied.

So I'm going to ask here. Fuck the police.

I'm a freelance visualiser, I basically live out of a messenger bag and my main computer is a 13" Sony Vaio with a 1366x768 resolution.

Would the Wacom Intuos 5 Small/Intuos Pro small be a good option for me?

>> No.1556167

>>1556154
If you can, i advise you to buy at least the medium one. The tablets are good quality and you will have it for a long time, so if you ever get something with a bigger monitor you will be grateful.

>> No.1556602

I was considering buying a Yiynova Msp19u or a Kingtee, but then I discovered the iPen2.

http://www.cregle.com/pages/pressure-sensitive-stylus-for-your-imac-and-ipad

Pretty much, for $170 i turn my 21" imac into a cintiq, and it only costs $50 more to turn you ipad into a portable electric sketchbook.

Get a medium one. check ebay for a intuos 5 since people are selling them at discount now that the pro is out.

well worth the investment.
