I do the same thing because I hate switching between my reference to my drawing - but I've got to say it's probably not helping anything. I use this also as a way to draw a straight line to measure instead of using a pencil to size-measure the reference and transfer it to my drawing.

This is probably hurting my ability to properly transfer things, so I think I'm going to stop. Also you won't be able to do this outside of a digital canvas when drawing from life.
