>eyes flat, as always
>also appears to have a black eye(?)
>bridge of nose seems flat too
>face appears slanted
>nose appears to be pointed in a different direction than the rest of the face

I've been giving you critiques like this for a while, and this is the last one. You don't appear to have any desire to improve, so I'm not going to waste my time anymore.

I think it's clear now that you learned how to shade first and never formally learned anatomy. So go do that, chauncey. And also post stuff like this in the sketchbook thread

This.

The anatomy errors are kind of cringe worthy on this one. I'd also look into how you do the eyes, they're pretty lifeless and make the whole thing look very beginner.

i am formally trained as an observational draughtsman. Anatomy, proportions, and value was included but we didnt go into anatomy indept. I draw what i see reinforced by proportions.

Thanks!

Guy. Just leave him alone.

It's clear he doesn't want our help, and turning these threads into shitstorms over it is pointless. Just leave him be.

You basically want us to say that your art is perfect and that everyone should draw like you huh? Cause it seems like you have taken literally none of our critiques and used them to improve yourself. You aren't here for help you are here for compliments

This board is for critique, what can we critique about a stylized drawing? Do you just want us to say if we like it or not?

>Do you just want us to say if we like it or not?

Ultimately thats what i want for all my art. I don't need some sort of objective rationalization. Ultimately, whether you like it is all that matters.its an obvious stylization. I also, i think its unfair for people to think i can improve overnight

>> No.1501138

You can still stylize while depicting forms. It's not really a 'one or the other' type of thing. All of these marks you make defeat any sense of form

The forms not gonna be right regardless. I use a 2d reference

>> No.1501143

get the basics down better before you start stylizing.

and it's all tough love on /ic/. if you want to improve, learn to take some criticism. we're only posting in your best interest.

There's people on this board who can depict forms with 2d references. It's called 'analyzing'. You can analyze can't you Chauncey?

In draw and sketch threads there are some, even some in the mango thread. 95% of drawings on this board are from 2d references.

>>1501052
is a good example of constructing, even though he's ctrl+t'ing everywhere

Construction is the process of using shapes such as cylinders and boxes to depict form. Then you use value to delineate further via soft, hard and lost edges.

>> No.1501211

>>1501166
Most of the 95% is shitty

>> No.1501215

>>1501211
Yeah, you're right, because those people don't know how to utilize references. There's hundred of reasons why; I won't speculate. That's why drawing from life is better because it forces you to acknowledge shapes. You can tell from looking around the board who has drawn from life and who hasn't.

Just because most people here don't take this seriously doesn't mean you can lower your own standards or slack or whatever. I feel like there's an allegory or fable that could describe that better...

I guarantee if you do some academic still lifes and studies for the next week or so, and then step back into this style, it will be much easier and you'll be able to actually do what you want to do.

Revisiting fundamentals doesn't mean you're tearing down everything you've ever done. I'd bet anything that even professionals brush up their fundamentals every now and then. It's essential to reinforce these things.

Thats would be cool if i had people that could model. But yeah, my technique flattens my drawings over anythng.
