--------------------/INFINITE CONQUEST/--------------------

-You are an artist.

-You want to become a professional artist.

-You must go on a journey to reach this goal.

----------RULES----------

-This is a very simplified game in order to appeal to people just joining and people going through the entire journey.

-The game has been modified to go well with the restrictions of the image board.

-If you are joining the game late then you have the option of going from the beginning and posting the first challenges or continuing where everyone else is at.

-You can post your drawings of the challenges at ANY TIME.

-Ex. We are at the end of the journey and you want to post your drawing of the first challenge. This is perfectly fine.

-In order to progress a minimum amount of pictures must be posted, the journey will not continue until the challenge is complete.

Ex. 10 drawings of gestures by 10 different people would qualify as continuing the journey.

YOU CANNOT POST MORE THAN TWO IMAGES YOURSELF FOR EACH CHALLENGE.

Sit back.

Relax.

Let your own personal, customized journey unfold.

Enjoy.

People need to recognize you on your journey right?

Use a tripcode so people can recognize your work.

The main point of the thread is to make drawing fun for those who are having artists block or just want a boost in drawing from imagination. The "story aspect" keeps people drawing for long periods of time, which hopefully will become a habit after the journey is over. Through out the story line you will encounter challenges that deal with the fundamentals as well as challenges that are just mean't to be fun and give you the ability to do whatever you want with them. I didn't tell you specifically what food item to draw; you could draw passion fruit spaghetti if you wanted to.

Vilppu's house --- Gesture
Chen --- Drawing from imagination
Foreign Cashier --- Still life

Well, people can always do the challenges at any time, like the rules state, but it is more fun to follow the challenges as they progress.

Instead of saying "next challenge in X posts", I think it should be set hours. That way people do not have to worry about being part of those X posts to bump the thread, but only reaching the time limit.

The number of hours should be changed depending on the complexity of the challenge.

"Pardon the wait Madam"

Any advice on working with colored pencils in my still life? I'm not sure how to indicate lighter or darker areas so I use a black colored pencil to shade sometimes.

Any advice on keeping the head proportional to the body and vice versa?

Any advice on what to look for when constructing forms on the body? I know I am not able to see overlapping forms very well.

>> No.1478181

>>1478169
I have advice on all of these!
When shading in coloured pencils, work from lightest to darkest, and layer different colours to achieve the right tones. I wouldn't advise shading with black; Always try to use a darker version of the main colour or one similar to it. For instance, in my first drawing I coloured the skin with things like ivory, pink, and yellow, but none of those are very dark so I shaded with brown. For the apple you could use dark reds, greens, browns, and oranges, depending on the surrounding colours.

Bodily proportions all affect eachother and it actually gets really lengthy to explain so I'm just going to wait til I'm done eating and make a graphic, but proportions are a specialty of mine because I do my studying in the mirror.

You might actually have to clarify your last question a bit, I'm sorry.

The elbows reach down to the waist, right at/below the ribs; The fingertips reach to about the middle of the thigh.
See those points on the legs? Those show how far the joints in your legs bend to, or which areas are the same lengths. If you sit with your knees pulled to your chest, your knees get parallel with your sternum (but don't quite touch) and your heels are level with your ass (which is as high as they go if you kick them backwards).

>> No.1479848

>>1479828
Well then, worry less about drawing lightly and more about drawing darker in the dark spots! In fact, you /definitely/ need to draw darker in the dark spots! Also, if you use a piece of tissue paper or a blending stump you can turn the lines into softer gradient shading, so then you don't have to worry about the lines being light, just the area. Blending stumps made shading light features a lot easier for me.
