doing rather well, however your construction is very unclean. I suggest you work on line confidence / quality. Your goal should be to have a good sense of how the head is going to look before you ever go into shading in case you use the construction method.

Brows also look deformed, as you defined them very flat, they actually begin on the underplane and then come up, making an S curve. Nose looks slanted toward the left side

Don't bitch out on those ears I wanna see some definition in them this looks really nice. The way you're doing this is really nice if it tightens up in the next few. I disagree with these other crits for crits sake. You're defining shapes really nicely with light however loosely. But like I said I wanna see them ears get the same treatment!

I use cs5, its not the photoshop what crashed, its my imac, its got a few years already and some times it just dies, I usually save my work every 5 minutes but I didnt really like how that shit was coming so I didnt bother

you're doing alright but try drawing the head from even a slight variation of the angle.
I see straight, almost orthographic portraits like this all the time and it always seems like a bit of a cop out to me

You use almost the exact same face, same color palette, same brushwork and rendering technique and same lighting situation as some other artist who is obviously your big influence. So stop lying about no refs used, you clearly used paintings of Ilikeyoursensitivity as refs. So in a way, you had even less to think about than using photo refs, you straight up copied what another artist already did.

Whether you had the ref open at the time or just looked at these paintings a lot until you could draw them from memory doesn't change the fact that you are recreating something that already exists.

I'm sorry you're having to take this much shit, OP. Just ignore them, who ever is accusing you of "copying" another artist is a faggot. There's heaps of artists that have similar styles and brushwork, some have gathered influence from others, some are just random likenesses (especially when it comes to sketches/quickies). In your case, both you and ilikeyoursensitivety paint a lot of young pretty girls with the standard round brush and a slightly muted color palette. That pretty much sums up the resemblance. I watch said artist on DA and I visit /ic/ relatively often, but I've never though you were that guy!

How ever, when it comes to "challenging your self", I'm gonna have to agree with several others. If you draw other themes and produce more polished results from time to time, why not show some of that here? Until you show something else then pretty-girl portraits, you are going to get shit for being stuck in one track and not really aiming to improve. Pretty soon that's all you're gonna be hearing. Just saying...

Of course he's not the same artist, he's way worse than that guy. It's just very obvious that he's trying to copy him and it's not just subject matter and color palette as you said, it's the expressions of the face, the facial features, the light source, everything.
