that's not an intentional part of the painting, it's just different giornata ("day's work"). I assume you don't know much about frescos, but basically it's part of the buon fresco technique, these patches show up because they are sections that were completed at different times.

Michelangelo worked in buon (wet) fresco, which had the advantage of being more permanent than dry fresco, but also meant the artist had to work in giornata (day's work). these segments of "day's work" are visible in the final painting, seamless blending just wasn't possible.

Let me know if this is too much information for you, and check out a wikipedia article or two if your head won't explode from it.

If you think words like "buon fresco" and "giornata" are fancy, then you do need an education. We're looking at giornata, thats just an objective fact. This fresco (or 'wallpainting' if that's too "fancy") is full of such examples.

As a guy who also draws a bit of pony (yes I know I'm wasting my time, but it's my free time I'd be spending watching a movie or something)

Overall the pony proportions are a bit out of whack, such as the head is a bit too square for the body, and the body is too small for the head. Here are some reference guides.

Currently working on a suggestive fanart for the Prequel comic, featuring genderswapped versions of the characters Katia (middle), Quill Weave (right) and Nah (left) about to perform some nude "acrobat tricks." What you see here is an experiment draft, not the final product.

I'm practicing my expressions right now and I wish I were better with anatomy. One anon told me the eyes on the cat are too far apart, trying to work with that.

There are some good things going on here. The use of lighting in the background to draw one's eye to the leaves on the little tree is one example. I might tone down the blue a little bit the further you get from the light source. I think it needs darker shadows in some places as well. Especially around the tree.
