I want to start sketching digitally but my linework is horrible - I don't have a sense of horizontal and vertical without looking at tablet (I had an opportunity to try citniq and it was completely fine)

When I draw traditionally I rotate the paper ALL the time (to get straight lines or whatever).

When I try to draw on tablet I feel like I was doing it with left hand.

Any tips? Btw. my painting skills are fine but with large opaque brushes you dont see the quality of line...

straight lines can be done very easily in a tablet.

Free hand you just practice, that's all.

You can rotate the canvas on demand with Paintool Sai

So basically I should switch to all digital and it will come naturally?

Is it common, do pros do this? Or is it better to learn in a normal way?

For PS, use shift and clicks to draw straight lines. Of course, how some may point out, practice makes perfect. It all comes down to what you are comfy with.
Does it actually matter if pros use it or not? If it is right and looks good it the end, it doesn't really matter how you got there. No client is every going to ask how did you make the lines or whatnot.

>implying people use Sai because they're animus
>Implying animu artists don't also use PS

PS CS2 is better than SAI and freeware.

There are not really software that is "better", it's just preference really.

If you like to use SAI, use SAI, if you like to use Photoshop, use Photoshop.

You get used to it after a while, just spend some time with it.
For drawing freehand lines just rotate the canvas, most graphic software has that feature.

It's common to do what works.
