there are fine inkless pens as well, but I've only seen them for 100 eurobucks or above for some reason.
The only signs of use I can see are that the metal doesn't look dull at the spots I drew with, but polished. According to the advertisement on MD and amazon those things are supposed to last a lifetime, so even if you're cynical of advertisements, I'd say those things last at least half a decade if you're an active artist.
