You'd probably fare better in the general draw thread, but what exactly are you trying to accomplish here? Lighting is mainly influenced by two things: the source light and the environment. As it stands, your lighting source is extremely ambiguous. Where is it coming from? What color is it? How strong is it? As for the environment, you have a simple gray background, which is fine but it looks like you're trying to shade with a color (blue) that doesn't appear anywhere else. I'd recommend taking a step back and try to understand the dynamics of shading in grayscale. From there, you will find shading with colors to be a much easier task.

if thats all it is why is the last 2 hours of tutorials sped up after they are done with the block in? If thats all it is why do certain colors look brighter or darker next to each other regardless of their actual value. Why even call this shit painting tutorials, they are nothing but 20 minutes talking about the most basic shit like this.
