>You should use thicker paint. It won’t make your stuff not shit but at least it will cover your canvas
Yeah I've goofed a lot with thickness and water over the last year. But I would argue that >>3774891 was kind of an intentional goof. It was painted for like 3 hours sober, and then it was painted on again later that day while tripping balls on acid and watching Annihilation.

But most of the shit I've been doing the last year has been gesso primer base layer, then a paint and gesso underlayer, paint darks (aka purple and blue), paint meds (aka red and purple and pinks), paint lights (aka reds and pinks and yellows), then generally a pass with blues and shadows, then highlights, touch ups etc. But I generally find that I make it to the meds and get bored and put finishing things off on future me.
>This diluted to hell with water is not a good look.
pfft kimnihilation is one of muh favorite paintings. If I were to do another pass it'd probably be to further dilute and blend everything into itself and the background and everything. The whole point of the movie Annihilation is that their mind and literal DNA is merging with their environment and their environment is reflecting back a cancerous reflection of the things that they are.

Like yeah like I spent 2017-2018 misusing acrylic by watering it down and trying to turn it into watercolor and doing all the shit you're talking about. I get that it's not a "good look." But it's novelty is something I AM interested in. It's a dirty, subversive aesthetic that essentially nobody has really tried to harness or figure out.

I'd say pic related is one of the ones from the "watery blacks" era that I kind of managed to crank into something that wasn't dogshit. Took like 20 hours or something and layer after layer after layer but idk I like that look. I think it's a look that you could shill enough and trick people into thinking it has value because it doesn't look like anything else necessarily.

>The surface of the canvas. Like textured paper. You might as well go for smooth canvas as oppose to the current canvas you've been using.
Yeah I guessed that's what we were talking about. Most of the canvasses I've been using for the past few months have been pre-primed too so all the gessoing and stuff is basically just for the process of it. Which is fun since in year one I was only using untreated canvasses and I wasn't doing underpaintings.
>Tooth canvas helps incorporate light and texture into the painting
Yeah a lot of what I've been doing the last year has been focused on using additives and stuff to build texture. Or just neo-impressionism rip off staccato brush strokes.
>If you have no obligations to these elements, I doubt you are on /ic/ for critique..
I mean I do it's just the focus is on goofing with the elements. Trying to subvert them in ways that may work.
>Is this acrylic?
Yeah bb.

like pict related is one from when I was more into canvas texture and actually painting on canvas, instead of painting on gesso and paint.

>You remind me of every burnout dropout who thinks they're something in the world LOL.
are there a lot of burnout dropouts interacting with at your middleschool?
>You have to tell yourself that I'm not good,
Why would I have to tell myself that? I don't even know who you are. Your relative skills in any specific artistic discipline won't change the reality that you choose to conduct yourself like a negative-sum buttblasted asshole. Like even if you were actually super good at art and you could comfortably demonstrate it, so what? Did you even have any meaningful critique or actual argument in the first place? How does you being "better than" matter?
>because otherwise you would literally kill yourself.
Why? Like I get that you're here to cockfight or whatever, but I don't care about you other than the text-generation services you're providing. I don't know what your beef is. I don't know which bone you're trying to pick. You're just here yelling about how you're "better than" the meme clown. Good for you I guess?
> Hell, I would kill myself too
Oh no you're going to. It's your destiny.
>only to be shat on by a stranger on 4chan.
oh you're a perfect balance to all the circlejerking I'm getting on reddit today. You're a good pet.
>So sad.
again your feelings are your own. I'm not the cause of your disaffection.

>your art is unappealing because you want to see if you go far enough down the rabbit hole of unnappealing, it finally becomes appealing?
yep. that's the hypothesis.
>that's not really how it works, experimentation is key, but experimenting with something that doesn't work isn't.
potato tomato. I think I managed to make the "mixing blacks into skin skin tones and using too much water in acrylic paint and exposed canvas" theme of year one work pretty well in pic related. It has an aesthetic that I would argue would be VERY hard for anyone else to be reproduce, particularly a painter.

Like the "appeal" to me is the subversion and kind of grotesque offness about the style that developed from muh dirty water period.

>and i also didn't give any painting specific criticism, nor did i claim i did.
yeah that's kind of what is annoying to me. I've done a lot of shit now and I've had these conversations for years. I don't really care about the vague "fundamentals" memes being generally applied to whatever. It'd be so much more productive to talk about specific ones than the whole gestalt.
>there are a ridiculous number of styles that are visually appealing to me
You are a beautiful and unique snowflake. (You) are an anonymous text generator. I only know (You).
>it's hard for me to say i can be wrong in most situations
not very scientific tbphwyf. And again, I don't care about your vague feelings in the first place so there's no need to qualify them anonymously.
>you claim to both be leaning in to mistakes as well as getting guidance from 4chan to improve
yeah it's a bit of a goof haha
>a venn diagram of good advice and misinformation
It is overwhelmingly mostly edgy kids anonymously projecting their feelings at me tbqh. I get WAY MORE "critique" in the form of whodoyouthinkyouare and yourenotbetterthanme memes that focus on things I do wrong, and very little practical or applicable suggestions for what to do instead. That's the joke!

>Nobody idolizes FLW because he procrastinated,
I kind of did. At the time we were learning about this I was already pretty much all about using the anxiety from time pressures to motivate and energize creative production. Having a deadline and obsessing about the project for weeks or months and then spastically blasting it out when there's no time for revisions is something I personally have always related to.
> if thats the only part that stood out to you,
Well yeah that and cantilevers and stuff.
>You could call it a visualization ability - if you want me to be current with this boards meme speak.
Yeah by IQ standards it falls under the spatial reasoning questions. Spatial visualization ability.

I related a lot to his ability to have everything visualized and stuff but I was always thinking about filmmaking, not architecture. idk I was a pretentious faggot in middle school. Got big brain numbers on the IQ and multiple intelligence tests when it came to spatial reasoning and that made me gay for dudes like FLW and Kubrick who were known for obsessively visualizing and bullshitting before finally executing on a project and whatever.

But it was mostly just be being a lazy self-important faggot that used FLW to justify why I didn't do shit.

>i know you do, bc you have no other way of seeing things.
No I mostly just don't care about the things you care about brah. The strokes on the sleeve for me were a spearment in movement and how the eye moves around more than they were about space or fucking perpective. And I'm more pleased with how they turned out than I was before I did them. So it's a net benefit. So I don't really care about your critique. Means nothing.

And like the whole "non-space background" critique I'm generally super fine with. Adds a whole lot more labor hours for something done for free in response to anonymous "commissions."

>yet another painting that shows that you're just coloring in without any thought to how it will look in the end.
Well none of them are done until they are. But I do work on that one again in 2019. Reason I posted it is that it's "related" to >>3589349 and >>3574479 in that it was made with them with their paint. It's the afterbirth of better efforts.

The reason I left it undone was because it was the inception of what became the guide for how I started doing the layering process of putting blacks down, then blues, purples, reds, yellows, and highlights. Up until then I would normally just start with a skin tone first and then try building shadows and values and stuff on top. It was when I was manically scribbling the backgrounds and spacing out on that one that I was thinking about it and I left it as a marker.
>the background is always just a haphazardly smeared flat color with visible brush strokes
not always. diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks.
>always and forever, he will be telling you "oh that's intentional really! wabi sabi babi!"
Well yeah because that's literally how art works. This is like basic Bob Ross tier shit. Maybe you nerds aren't movie fags but some of the best things in cinema history weren't "part of the plan" until after they got it on film. Not to mention that leaving exposed canvas and painting around it on sunglasses is very clearly an intentional choice. This isn't Dicaprio cutting his hand in Django and carrying on the scene.

You have an overwhelmingly basic understanding of artistic production it seems. It's like you took one intro to art class.
>every mistake is "intentional"
No it's embraced. It becomes part of it. wabi sabi. Why not make an effort to understand art theory?
>every lack of technique is "part of the plan"
It is. Scheduling for mistakes makes it much harder to get discouraged.

you could always goof with layering and opacity and stuff. I stopped using black paint entirely for this year and that's lead to a bunch of learning. and you could always try getting more into texturing and smudging and shmearing and stuff idk.

>By that logic the larger proliferation of their ridiculous HILLARY ARE SATAN, BRAISE JESUS :DDD advertisements were meant to agitate liberals into coming out in force for Hillary against Glompf and his racist horde of god botherers
Sure but that was mostly just laughed at and ridiculed by non-religious, non-zealot types.

Also notice your confrontational bullshit tone and intentionally disingenuous muddy waters questioning. Why you think you do this bruh?
>Glompf
And that's another fun aspect. The whole DRUMPF thing that you supporters do. That was like a Last Week Tonight bit a few years ago now. THE ONLY PEOPLE that are doing the drumpf meme are you idiots, acting like idiots "ironically." Why you think you do this?
>not to mention the fact that Trump's main body of supporters are computer illiterate boomers who either don't have facebook or wouldn't use it enough to be affected
What are you fucking retarded? Boomers are the primary people using facebook now. And unlike the younger generations they jumped on assuming everything was regulated and done with their best interests at heart. They're some of the biggest consumers of ALL of the malicious messaging being disseminated across all the platforms.
>If anyone has Russians living rent free in their head it's you and anyone that's even given a second thought to this Russia shit and given it more credit than it's due.
They are still very actively targeting you. Your mind is compromised. The fact that you try to wave it away is A: evidence of how well it works and B: your fucking problem m8.

You're a bit difficult to read. You seem upset.

Also why do you think you're better than people? Based on what metric? And didn't you just say:
>you just reek of millenial faggot who thinks hes better than everyone
and now you're better than strangers "in every way?"

I'm pretty good at skiing. I have a good amount of experience on boats. I've worked in production for about a decade. I'm an experienced diver and I spent a lot of my childhood at sea. I have some experience flying aircraft too. I've also knocked a few people unconscious in fights. I'm a pretty good marksman. I've got a few years of experience working in kitchens too. I've produced and directed and done art and grip and electric and worked in production offices and ran craft services on a feature film production. And you're just comfortably, anonymously "better in every way?" And I'm the millennial faggot that thinks they're better than everyone?
