it seems blindingly obvious to me that you should try to draw what you want and then work on your fundamentals when you find you don't have the ability to do something. can't draw a figure in 3D? study construction methods. can't even draw simple forms in 3D? study perspective. people rarely seem to take this approach though. i feel like there's a large amount of people on /ic/ who are afraid that if they make one mistake at any point during their drawing career it'll fuck them for life. i'm surprised you don't see more suicides coming out of this board.
