Don't use black shadows unless you intend to draw a very dark scene or a high contrast scene (with a powerful light source, like an atomic bomb or a projector). Watch the behaviour of shadows IRL.

Here's a very rough example of how I'd do this if I were you, assuming the light falls from above.
