Bu what are you going to do with the recs? Just look at them?
If you want people who is not too stylized Wallace Wood, Curt Swan and Joe Kubert are all substance over style
Pic related is by Alex Toth, he's a little bit more stylized but still has a lot of substance.
Dunno who else to recommend but I can namedrop people I'm not too familiar with like Russ Manning or Burne Hogarth. maybe look at the artists featured on this collection https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_EC_Artists%27_Library
Maybe you should read some western comics on your own too and discover artists you like by yourself, specially since all these artists I've listed are quiet old.

I fucking love western comics and I really aim to draw in house style.
I love the detailed art, wacky colors and compressed storytelling, all things that make weebs mad.
I've made comics and published them as zines and I'd love to be properly published but I know the pro artist life isn't for me.

If OP is still here:
Draw from life, like get a pocket notebook and draw people you see on the street, doesn't matter it doesn't come out perfect or a complete drawing, this will teach you gesture and how to see like an artist.
Also study artists you like, both as gestures and copies of their work, doing it with photos is good too but photos can't replace doing it form real life.
Do you have any other doubts?

Where can I find work as a comic artist?
Like writers willing to get their script done or a small press publisher looking for talent.

I already know about r/comicbookcollabs

Alex Toth is the ideal comicker.
These articles will explain you why:

Toth studied from the famous artists course, maybe you should pick up those same guides. House/american comics style was born out of the same school as Rockwell or Frazetta and comickers are also proper illustrators so I can beth your education and pactices are what is wrong.

>what are your goals
Just make comics

>where do you want to end up and what are you currently doing to get there?
Dunno but I'm brewing ideas.

>And has anyone tried their hands at cons
There are no cons on my country.

>Or are you trying to get internet popular with a webcomic?
I'm planning this but the future looks grimm, webcomics are hard to sell.

And my favorite Alex Toth. Alessandro Barbucchi is my other favorite but I don't have any of his art handy.
