I'm not about to post clients shit because it's personal to them, or go get out my portfolio from storage and photograph it right now just for 4chan, so something on a similar level is this. Except I only use graphite in the whole piece, no charcoal to speed it up or because I can't get dark tones. My pencils don't get shiny they stay as matte as possible. My black tones are BLACK not this sketchy bullshit full of holes. Fill in all the holes.

I don't have a website or blog (I probably should), I just get commissions locally. People give me a few references of shit if needed but I don't go photocopy mode on their refs. If its a person they'll be making a different expression or they'll be in a totally different pose at a different angle. One graphite commission I did recently was someones prize buck on their hunting grounds, they didn't have a picture of the pose they wanted so they gave me a few photos to give an idea of his likeness from different angles, I sketched out a few poses and compositions for him, they picked one, I drew it, happy customers.

I charge by the sq inch for graphite work. If its small it's cheaper, if it's large it's more expensive. Unfortunately, people don't understand that it takes way more careful skill than painting does, so its valued lower even though it's tedious and takes much more time and skill. I make more from paintings I spend days to a week and less expensive supplies on than I do with a graphite piece of the same size that takes me about 3 weeks to bust out.

People seem to think good graphite and paper is less expensive than good enough paint and canvas. So there's a limit to how much I can charge for that shit. Unless it's ungodly levels of complexity (it usually isn't) I have to go by the rates people will realistically pay.

Anyways sorry for the rant. Charge what the value of your work is, consider how long it takes, material cost, and expertise. Followers don't matter. I make a living with 0.
