You are drawing a circle on the sphere, you can see some of the side planes you drew wraps around and vanishes from sight. You do not want that.

Look at step 4 and see how the side of the head is "cut off". Look at your attempts and see how the 2 look different

Why can't the japs draw male faces right? The lines are too thick, the curves on the eyes, cheek, jaws, and nose are far too sharp, the hair looks shitty, the lips and chin are wrong, there's always something wrong with anime males. Compared to their beautifully stylized female counterparts, male characters in anime are always ugly. What the fuck is their problem?

Yes. The line down the middle should split the face to two even halves. The circle on the side is the side of the head that is basically chopped off from the sphere. The black lines are incorrect. I was using the red to show what should have been drawn. Look at this photo for direction. Even though Loomis is basically a meme he's still the most understandable and correct.
