value range is poop. even black hair reflect light so it is never a solid mass of black. To add lighting just make new layer, select one of many different layer modes (multiply, vivid light, hard light, color) and then adjust opacity while you draw in whatever color you want

draw a very large cube in 3PP, Split the cube in 4 parts. Draw windows and doors in each of the parts. Now draw smaller boxes inside these 4 rooms. Turn these boxes into furniture and people. Make sure the furniture, doors, windows and people are all proportional utilizing basic perspective rules.
