I think you need to look closer at the first pic you posted and compare them again, because the coloring technique is definitely not the same. Also, I've seen a lot of RJs work and that is most definitely not the kind of face he would draw, with the exception of the nose. I don't really see a difference in skill between the face and body either, I think the face is just as lopsided honestly.
