>be me during early teens
>watch My Fair Lady
>she's the prettiest girl I'd ever seen
>watch that movie every day, whenever I had free time
>fall absolutely in love
>her voice, nose, and all her individual features felt like they belonged to a being too pure to be human
>realize she lived in a different era
>realize that I could never possess her, or even look upon her IRL
>become terribly depressed, don't eat, and sleep as much as I could (would see her in my dreams)
>that lasted for several weeks, at the end I must have lost a quarter of my weight

This. I don't like dating people that just want to sit around and watch movies and tv all day and that seems to be all anyone does anymore. Why would you want to date someone that you have nothing in common with, anyway?

>oh Anon, stop all this "gitting gud" or whatever you call it nonsense and let's go do something I want to do all day instead and maybe I'll let you slap my pussy around later lmoa~

You'd have to be an extremely bitter, deranged retard to allow jealousy of your partner's art creep into your relationship somehow, but this is /ic/ so I guess it's only natural there'd be more than a few of those floating around.

Incidentally I have a date tonight and it's with someone I don't have a hell of a lot in common with; all I really want in life is somebody who knows the struggle and also wants me to stuff my erect penis in their vagina here and there but instead it's all normies all the time.

I'm not going to make it. Actual years later, why do I even try? I'm a soulless autistic born again virgin circumcised cripple dick striving imposter nerd faggot low test myopic numale omega retard cunt with no chance in hell of making anything worthwhile in this lifetime.

How do you give a two-dimensional image 'character' when you don't have any character yourself? You can't.

How do you stop getting dragged into frivolities either by your friends or through your own dumb ass volition? You won't.

How do you go on living knowing that you're too much of an effeminate mental midget to exhibit even the most rudimentary improvement in anything, let alone something you feel so much admiration and aspiration for? You don't.

I'm old as shit and I draw worse than kids a third my age. It's not just the manual "act" of drawing I fail at either. If it's not a formless flat and featureless "figure" of indeterminate gender and bad anatomy holding its deformed mitten hands at its sides from a given angle it's got WAY too much personality and life for my machine-like sociopathic dullard dad bod gyno tits downs syndrome brain to handle and I hate that most of all. It's over, boys. See you on the other side.

Proportions aren't too bad, bud. Got a "chicken scratch" problem but that's easy enough to fix.

In lieu of inking/painting I'd suggest you focus on drawing with pencil and other disposable media for now-it will help you to not get hung up on individual pieces so you can increase your output.

https://www.ctrlpaint.com/videos/mastering-the-art-of-letting-go

...and of course, attack some of the material in the sticky.

The piece lacks form almost throughout except the tiddies (and believe me I can appreciate that as much as anyone else) and the gloves. There's little anatomy to speak of and its very, very flat as consequence, but it looks like you've a general idea of the proportions at the very least. I suggest if you're still hiding hands and that sort of thing you ought to go in the same general direction I sent >>2834220 in

How rude!

Is that butter or margarine?

I'm waiting!

Could be worse. The expression on the little symbiotic head thing is pretty cute. Keep working, hitting the sticky etc.

It's okay bud, there's a lot more problems than "the hair is off" but at least you're trying. Keep working at it.

>>2836552
Thank you for the kind words, but it's too late for me-I already haven't made it...

Anyway, what I've done or haven't done with myself up to this point is my own responsibility! Just keep doing what you do, and good things will happen for you.

As an artist myself who might be looking to hire a better artist for an extended project, I'd say that it is situational. Don't disrespect yourself and the rest of us by working too low if you don't absolutely have to, but there are things that would change in the situation of long-term employment. For example, Steven Silver says in one video that he charges $100 an hour for caricature sessions where he goes to people's houses and draws party guests. Seeing as he'll probably only be there for a few hours, he'll be drawing from the moment he's there to the moment he leaves and it's a one-off thing that's a very sensible amount. However, he says in the same video in so many words that a studio isn't going to pay you $100 an hour for a 40 hour a week job as an artist, it's just untenable. That would be almost $900,000 a year for an individual artist among dozens or hundreds, several times more than what some of the most hot shit artists make today.

Charging $20 for a quick sketch of something for a one-off commission that takes you fifteen minutes to do is normal, but if you're working with a client long term and there's possibly tens of thousands of dollars at stake they will want to pay you by the hour instead, for which you should expect like $20-25 minimum if you're competent. It's a lot less than what you'd get for a one off commission, but stability comes with a price I suppose.

As compelled as I am to tell you it would potentially be more trouble than it's worth, sorry fambo. If it's any consolation I'll take more pictures of the grounds later this week. All modern Ateliers share a common lineage tracing back to a handful of individuals, so likely have many similarities. I'll try and be as thorough as possible without being too redundant. The great majority of the space is taken up by the full time student's personal workspaces and I don't want to creep around them too much, but I'll take a few more shots just so you can get a general conception of what to expect.

If you're interested in attending an atelier yourself, the first step is finding out if one's near you, the simplest way to do that is typing in "atelier" into maps.google.com, see if you have any near you and give them a call or scope out their website.
