It's actually a commentary on how anime is the most empirically appealing art style man has devised, literally the end result of hundreds of years of progressive stylistic refinement, but to "critique" for the sake of realism or other modern art fetishes is also often to make it less appealing.

The artist posted is pretty amateur but his work is 1000% more appealing than the work of any of /ic/'s more virtuoso posters (not that that's saying much, but hey). Why? Because he's Japanese and draws like one instead of saying "in order for the artwork to be good it needs to do X, Y, Z".

What If the reference image was photoshoped ( to exaggerate body proportion ) in the first place? maybe that's why some people see it wrong. When we see photograph, subtle wrongness is easy to miss. But when it comes to drawings, We tend to deliberately seek for mistake.
