Unfortunately there are no books on how to make appealing porn.

If you try to compile visual cliches and just dump them all to make it arousing it ends up looking sassy and artificial.

Probably it deals with arranging the opposite of your subject (like a fat balding male having sex with a cute young girl) to make her more appealing.

But alas when I try to do it with certain fetishes (inflation, furry, scat) it just ends up making the subject look more cartoony and retarded.

Probably there is a high demand for those niche fetishes because their nature makes them really hard to convey has attractive on 2D drawings.

Most perplexing yet is that what the artist find bad might be loved by the fans. One should have the emotional strength to make bad art that people love and get paid for it.
