you have no shadows and barely any midtones. you should be drawing on a midtone paper with a white pencil and a soft dark pencil like a 2b or more. refer to scale. as you get comfortable with tones, you should have these memorized since you are working with graphite.

or just draw on computer paper with an hb pencil and stay pleb, idc.

I you're gonna do a BIG drawing like this for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwQdOgAD_Bc
Well then yes, you are forced to use your whole arm, elbow and shoulder.

But if you're gonna work inside a little work space, then it's all about fingers, wrist an little more than that.

But to give you the answer that I think you're looking for, try and HB or H lead, you know, you have up to 9H (pic related) grade of lead so you can throw lines like crazy and you won't fuck up as much.
I know Jeff Watts talks a lot about that "draw from your shoulder" stuff, but man, look at that, he works at HUUUGEEE scales. I do mostly mid range drawings (A4 usually, rarely A3), so I use my wrist and fingers, and that's it, not big deal.
