That is not true. If you are creative, or can make funny comics, or good at marketing, or have contacts in high positions, or lucky, you can become very succesfull. You can make up with creativity what you lack in skills

Look at Scott Adams. His cartoons are not particulry good, as far as drawing goes, but they are funny and he became super famous because of it.

Look at the guy who made One Punch Man. the art is very mediocre but it became a world hit because the idea is interesting and the comic is creative.
