Why is everyone still so obsessed with this crap? All of it looks the same and it doesnt look appealing one bit, pic related does not look like humans, its just random shapes like its done by a 5 year old. They honestly look like cartoon ants like the ones from bugs life, why does everyone here want to draw ants?

its exaggerated in a bad way. Like the whole anime hair was just dumb, it didn't look good, it didn't look realistic, and usually it wasn't consistent and was just made to identify characters. Bringing in that back down to more realistic levels really does look a lot nicer.

On the flipside, the chins being closer to reality hurts it because it does take some of the appeal away when you combine it with the simplistic nature of the drawings. The sharp and concave nature of their jaws looks more deformed than human-like. Simplifying it into a more rounded shape makes their faces look more human even if it is less realistic.
