I like this painting.

How do I make my works emit SOUL in the way that this painting of a dog does? I love this dog painting so much. This is the painting I have spent the longest time staring at.
An artist can spend weeks on a painting, only for someone to just glance at it for 0.2 seconds, never to look at it again. Many such cases. But this painting? I have looked at this, unironically, for hundreds of hours. Such an effect it has had on me.
How do I make my own works have that value, where people look at it for more than 0.2 seconds?

It's been puzzling me for a while.
This painting is one of my favorites. There's something about the expression of this dog, the way it looks into your very soul. In my own works, I cannot replicate this... 'stare'. The expression for the eyes are always blank, as if there is nothing behind it, no thoughts. I wish it were otherwise, like in this painting. The dog has so much expression it its eyes. You can almost see what it's thinking or feeling. Almost. I suppose the word for it is SOUL. Not just the soul of the painting, but the soul emanating from the dog.
