I always recommend begs to get into cast studies. Pic related has some youtube video titles that I think you should look into. Training your eye to be accurate never hurt anyone. Comparative measuring will be an essential skill to pick up as soon as you can. Start small, get comfortable taking and keeping your measurements consistent. You don't have to actually draw to practice your measuring, you can do it from observation alone.
