Basic 3d shapes like this completely filtered me.

I still don't have a good grasp on perspective, warped forms, cubes, cylinders, ellipses, organic forms, rotations, proportion yet.

Is it still worthwhile to practice drawing from reference? What should I be referencing?

Does anyone have the image of “line style” that tells the light sources, stretches, focusness, and (out of nowhere) Butch Hartman Line Style? And what book or source was that from?
Pic unrelated: Just thought I contribute.

I CAN'T EVEN DO THE FUCKING CUBES PROPERLY. My vision is shit. And after a year I still can't do this exercise, I still can't do basic 3D forms

Every time I try to move forward, I find that I still can't really do cylinders and cubes and it fucks me up.

This is an exercise I cannot do

I've spent two years grinding basic forms.

And yet I still can't do gesture and basic perspective and organic form warping. I have hardly touched gesture. I haven't touched rendering and color

I still can't properly draw cubes and cylinders accurately.

I can't rotate them and put them in the same environment. And I've recently taken a long break from COVID and I have regressed even further. I don't know what to do anymore.

I can't do this exercise. I feel like my brain is completely broken.

Any advice for doing this exercise?

But I'm also wondering how you're supposed to do cube rotations that way. Or warped cubes like this.

>There is no guess work if you measure, otherwise you'll only develop an intuition if you say, do an exercise where you draw 20 well, and accurately measured boxes in perspective

I guess so. It just seems incredibly difficult to fit that accuracy into exercises like this with organic shapes.
And if you're thinking of using boxes when constructing a person or something in 3-point perspective, then that seems like a ton of measurement you'll be doing for each limb.

Because whenever I delve into figure drawing, I realize that my understanding of perspective is still very poor. And I keep regressing. My visual imagination gets weaker, to the point that I feel like I'm developing aphantasia. And my actual vision is getting worse so I feel like I can't even reference shit or gauge proportion, form, parallel/converging lines properly.
I've wasted so much time getting *nowhere*, stuck on this treadmill

I can't accurately do exercises like pic related at all, and that's one of the first fucking pages of Vilppu.

I can't believe how much I still struggle with fucking cubes and cylinders. I've grinded them so much for the past year. HAVEN'T EVEN MOVED ONTO FUCKING FIGURE DRAWING YET. God dammit.

I've been really struggling with perspective for the past year.

I still don't really know how to accurately do warped shapes like this, organic forms, rotations and I would like to find more material on how to do that.

I can definitely just bullshit it like how Drawabox teaches, but it doesn't seem good enough. I need something more technical but not cripplingly technical like Scott Robertson.
