general philosophy:
- always be thinking when you draw things to actively improve
(this is the single biggest thing, if you actively self crit + think about how to improve your work everything else will come naturally)

rendering:
- hard brush, no flow settings, focus on blocking in forms (think of objects as groups of values instead of lines)
- vary hues while shading, use saturation/temperature sparingly

drawing:
- how to have fun with sketching, how to add complexity, make appealing linework, create depth/forms (from reading dodson, studying kjg + katsuya terada)

a lot of what ive learned so far are small epiphanies and understandings of how other artists do things by studying their art and critiquing my own

there's nothing wrong with studying people who literally do simplified forms in motion (animation) as their job to improve gesture (simplified forms conveying motion)
