Ha, yeah, it still my weakness to go in and clean stuff. Comes down to time spent and patience, like the previous critique. Thanks for the pointers. This gives me two ways to practice rendering, blending versus brush stroke control.

I assume you mean picking the right colour pallette, since my rendering is still lacking (due to not spending enough time).
It's mileage. Still lifes help a bunch, because you can't colour pick. Pick all colour you want to use in the blocking-out stage and then colour pick your canvas. Additional exercises could be painting with 100% opacity (will look ugly, but you'll learn a lot), painting on one layer only (forces you to work from big shapes first, details last) and stuff like that. Do a few still lifes, self portrait and master/photo reference studies a week.
