Use leverage grip instead of applying pressure on a single section of the drawing tool like a special child, as was pointed out already

Be strong, at least do the wrist roller curl.

Do strokes from the shoulder more than anything.

If in pain take breaks and pace yourself I guess. Do the above until you stop getting pains, then you can go back to steady practice.
