Is it a good way to get better if I just draw a few hundred fundemental shapes everyday for a week or so? practicing cubes, cylinders, spheres etc

Hey, as with anything in art, persistence is key! In all seriousness though, glad I could help.
When you're looking at anatomy breakdowns and foreshortening, an important factor is going to be "drawing through" figures, like the dotted lines in pic related. Basically you give yourself guidelines that show the entire form, then just keep the clean contour lines after you've gotten the shape down. Good luck, anon.
