Well it's a lot of things, not just the rendering. Art hard. I don't feel too bad about it because I am still learning something new every day.
Thank you though. I guess I'm okay at rendering, but not very good at painting. Painting's always been hard for me compared to drawing. I like artists who can express a lot with a little, and I like imperfect shapes. Overly polished work loses the forcefulness. Jon Taira, the way he painted the legs in the top right example is so simple it's almost just abstract shapes. My attempt at his style at the bottom right feels overwrought. I think I just need to seriously practice painting, never really paid it its due.
