3/? "Tumblr style" generally can be traced back to former or current weebs reacting to the anime style by completely reversing it, with no sense for either anatomy or aesthetics. Eyes become simpler yet somehow more ugly, noses become large and unshapely but with no regard to how real life noses tend to look, and chins jut out in the lumpiest way imaginable. More and more detail is added to noses, jawlines, necks, and hands, but not in any way that even resembles life. Lines are just kind of thrown in there with the hopes that the viewer has never seen a hand or an Adam's apple before. Note how some traits seen in the anime style still appear in the Tumblr style despite reactionary changes, such as the side-mouth that makes everyone look like Sonic the Hedgehog.
