I've been drawing on and off since I was four but never put in the effort to improve and taking month long breaks has constantly put me backwards

So is stylization actually worth anything or is it really just a crutch? Pic related is a character I drew from a game I was playing a while back. I feel like all I know is how to stylize, and I lack actual understanding of anatomy, posing, depth perception, viewer angle, etc. I just wanna kinda know if I'm off to an okay start
