Here's some yapping for you OP,

Realism may not be the highest form of art, in fact once you get around 80-90% of the way it's almost a dull waste to continue and become a glorified camera for that last 20% to 10% of perfect that said it is and will always be the most easily recognizable measure of technical skill due to the uncanny valley effect. It's like the equivalent of filling out a stat sheet in basketball, you have all the skills. Stylization and personal flairs and flourishes will always have a greater impact on the audience even if they are less technically impressive or not as accurate. There's an honest form of self expression which can be risky but worth it if you combine it with proper practice of fundamental skills to get the best results of something only you could put together from your brain. The best stylistic artworks may not be realistic but they are believable because the artists who make them bring the soul/feeling of real into their work, that ability to make something look real is built from realism studies. Know the rules before you break them, that type of deal
