I love your work anon, the style is very unique but I think you are spot on about the backgrounds, the panel with the window feels a little empty, it is important to note that when working on backgrounds we have to make them feel that these are spaces where people live, adding stuff like furniture, messy books lying around, weird trinkets etc. can make a huge difference. I know it's only the first 6 pages but I would like to see more about the world your characters live in so I hope we can get more exposure on that. I do look forward to reading more of your work!
btw if you are looking for some recommendations in manga to study I think otoyomegatari or dungeon meshi would be good!
