eh, he's a concept artist. You learn how to do something quick and it becomes a habit you don't think twice about. Especially when you know for a fact you could have rendered it out perfectly without painting over or tracing it. So it just saves a bit of time.

I feel like the tracing/paintover thing only becomes an issue when you're not changing a god damn thing about it, like NADIR and the like.

I have quite a few I painted over pieces of photos but I'm going back to re-render them "legit" so people can stop bitching about it.
