Not for you. Your issue is that you're still treating the building blocks of the body (ellipses for ribcages as an example of what you're doing) as 2d shapes instead of 3d forms. What you need is to work on perspective.

Perspective is key to construction (building the body). Anatomy (learning what they body actually looks like) is for accuracy purposes only.

Try use boxes and cylinders instead to construct. I've always thought of it as Lego. Wrapping lines are also very good and noticeable too, the outline of his sleeve is a good indicator of which way you should put your wrapping lines around his arm.
