I've done a bit more work on it since but I actually have a really terrible process that is excessively time consuming, inefficient and not recommended but I'll share anyway.

I'll sketch out my drawing, then line it using an airbrush at 80% opacity. Afterwards I create seperate layer for every aspect of the drawing, so the hair, club, beads, loincloth etc. all have their own seperate layers. I use each of those layers as a base and I'll clip a new layer on top of each of those called hair 2, club 2 and so on and so forth, and then I'll use those secondary layers to render on top of. Sometimes I'll add layers with a gradient clipped on top of those as well si that the colours have a bit more depth. This is pretty problematic though because if I realise there's an issue with perspective or anatomy part way through it often means I have to edit like 6+ layers just to fix it, but I'm a finnicky ho that likes to micromanage everything.

I pretty much only use three brushes when I'm painting, airbrush at varying levels of size/opacity, blur, or a custom blend brush called knife blend. I work in Sai so I can post the settings for it tomorrow if you'd like it (I'm in bed atm).

My twitter is @vshtone (and thanks).
