>the entire point I was trying to illustrate with my example was that learning via trail and error sucks ass
By comparing oranges to apples?
>"No, see! If you go unprepared while handling electricty you are at risk of getting yourself electrocuted like a dumbass! Therefore, trial and error is not doable for something as overly simple as picking up a pencil and draw where you are at risk of making something that sucks!"
There's no logical sense here, one argument does not lead to the other.
>inb4 "you're missing the point"

>i personally experienced this while learning how to draw folds i spent weeks pissing about with references and the like only being able to replicate the patterns without understanding how they actually work
Unironically skill issue keeeeek. I get you are in need of understanding the theory in order to fully grasp a subject, but if you dive into the practice and come out empty handed without grasping at least the very basics of it, that's a (You) problem. Do you not experiment or try to see how things work with your resources in comparison of others? That's all you're missing.
>the vast majority of the time is spent fucking about and not learning or doing anything of actual value
Reiterate, if all the time you spend fucking about leads to no learning whatsoever, not even something minuscule, that's a mayor skill issue.

>ABA is the best one
Can vouch for that. There are plenty of good resources in there, good art discussion and plenty of great artists that are willing to give you a hand with anything. Also the server is pretty small and comfy for everything non-art related, people are really nice in there, dramas and trash throwing are a rarity and are always handled with care.

Also, for people saying it's shit because you cant say slurs and bitch around: If your dealbreaker from all it's benefits is being unable to say nigger, faggot, or talk shit about borderline /pol/ trash, then you are not looking for an art server, you're just looking for a place to clown around, stop lying to yourself and go /soc/ if you want a place to be a 4chan clown.

What does that have anything to do with any of what you or I said? For all I care you can study art from the Woodcrawlers of the "planet" Iris, that doesnt change the fact you are a weeb that is obsessed with weeb trash and want to be a weeb trash wannabee.
>also
>I want my art to look asian
>Im currently studying european artists
You absolute FAGGOT.

Not going to mass reply you, but you know Im refering to you.
Everyone calling you out as a coomer weeb for throwing at fit over people not knowing of Asanagi is right. Even for /ic/ standards, not everyone is going to be familiar with an artist of such an specific niche that most likely no one consumes to the degree of knowing the artists. I would argue minus8 is a lot more known for appealing to western and eastern audiences alike and being active for nearly a decade and a half, but I can excuse people for not knowing who he is because who is going to be familiar with such a specific artist? There's also this turtle-in-the-fish or whatever artist that is well known for their doujins and one I can certainly recognize because I like their art, but not everyone is going to be familiar with them either.

Also throwing a tantrum and calling people names for not knowing about a specific coom artist of all types of artists says a lot about your habits. Seek help.

You guys may want to be wary of these faggots if you want this general to thrive...
