Honestly low key I've done shit ton of watching Old Man Vilppu and Loomis and the Drawing Database Perspective videos..... but what really helped me was just getting a mentor to kinda figure out how I learn and what works for me, and then making as many of my ideas into illustrations as best I can, following in the footsteps of my favorite artists.
TLDR; Doing as many actual illustrations and only studying something to immediately try and "solve" the problems you encounter one illustration is much more rewarding and engaging than any other method I've tried. It's much better than trying vaguely learn the concepts broadly and then be kind of average in actually apply. Even when being trained by somebody, the thing we noticed was that actually doing the work you want to do and trying to not run away from the problems was just much more effective, at least for me.

The worst part is when you ask come asking for advice only to get some snarky asshole blasting you with vague advice. If someone is posting specifically on an art critique board that means they're looking for specific feedback like a redline or an in depth explanation. But if you disagree with their opinion or advice you get seen as a faggot, even if the feedback wasn't particularly helpful or specific.
People need to realize that constructive criticism doesn't need to have people be rude and attack other people to improve other's work. It's about telling them objectively is working and not working about the image and how they could try thinking about that, both the bad AND the good.
ex: "Anon I think you did this part well, you should strengthen it by doing X and continuing to use this technique in the future. You're lacking in part Y, so you need to concept Z in order to keep it from drawing attention away from X."

Or you know, you can just be retard faggot and just laugh at point at people that their art is bad in a vauge way and refuse to tell them why when prompted.

You're better off. Maybe add in a quick 30 min-1 hour warm up before you start a finished piece. Do line drills and perspective practice, but continue finishing pieces as it will show you exactly what your weaknesses are that you need to study. You shouldn't just study aimlessly, you have to have a plan and you cannot rush them and be sloppy either. In the navy, we have a saying that's drilled into our heads that sums this up pretty nicely.
Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast.

^This. Dave Rapoza proved that you can git gud and "make it" into the art industry by sheer hard work and discipline. He did what most people don't do-He worked hard and he worked smart...In other words, he was able to structure his time efficiency and min/max his art gains like a god. Even Kim Jung Gi started out somewhere and he had to draw from reference for decades until he could draw freely like he does now. All this Drawabox and Loomis worship won't work for everybody, it's just a tool like anything else, and it's up to you to figure out what works and what doesn't. Fucking just draw, have basic fucking critical thinking skills, and figure that shit out!

tl;dr
i was being a Nosebro and thought relying on references was cheating when in fact that was what i should've been doing to improve my memory skills all along. use what works for you kiddos, don't fall into the overconstruction meme and just draw things you see as much as possible to draw things that you can't see(like dragons and cute asian women)

Here's the secret to using /ic/: Use it less, and know your shit before you come here.
If you spend all your time posting your most of your work that you're not sure about on /ic/ and rely on the anons to guide you, I guarantee you will jump from one thing to the next and you will waste a lot of time with things that don't actually matter. You will fall into the trap of constantly posting sketches in fear of "polishing turds" and constantly get misguided as all the anons give radically different advice.
You might strike gold and get some very good critiques but that only happens when you already know what you're doing, otherwise, /ic/ will simply regurgitate memes and generic advice that most of the time will not work for you.
That being said, /ic/ is UNDENIABLY the best source to get to get art knowledge on the internet.
This is simply because of the vast amounts of resources the anons collect from almost every crevice of the internet, which would otherwise take YEARS of searching and monetary investment to accquire. Think of /ic/ as mechanical repair shop: You come to get an extra opinion and to acquire to materials for your faulty machine, but you're the one who has to learn how to keep your car outta trouble, not the mechanic./ic/ is not a place accquire knowledge, it's simply a place to fine tune your knowledge and get resources to find more.

In order to draw efficiently, you must be able to use your tool effeciently, and your mind and body are also tools that need to be maintained. Working out keeps your body in good shape, which in turn can help improve mental states. If you neglect your body and just draw all day every day without some maintenance, you end up having to take hiatuses later on or just making shitty Scyra podcasts about how you're depressed about you've squandered all your skill into forcing a shitty style.

As much as I hate Sycra's style I still appreciate the concepts he shows on Youtube. Also everyone on /ic/ needs to hear this 1:19:38
"...Especially younger people, they're looking for bandwagons to jump on. So they're less about compiling and finding the balance and finding the synthesis of knowledge, they're just trying to be 'I'm team Sinix', 'I'm team Loomis', 'I'm team whatever'. It's more about identifying with someone...''
There is no one way, just watch for patterns, learn from everyone, follow no one, and work like hell.

Hmmm okay, I see what you're saying. Sorry for being so apprehensive. It's just that I keep seeing people on the internet now days always applying advice too literally and making everything too extreme. It's seems like common sense and being a balanced person is a rare commodity nowadays.

Doing it without construction requires you to do it hundreds of times until you can just remember the forms turning in space subconsciously. Kim Jung Gi and the other pros are able to freehand shit only because they have years of experience. Learn to construct first- To learn to run , you must first learn how to walk. To learn how to draw fast, learn how to draw slow.

This. All you faggots need to critique like anon did. If you can't make your critique specific and constructive then don't bother coming up with one. Just telling them that they're scrublords and saying harsh words isn't enough. Try to actually use your brains and come up with areas the artist is proficient at as well as the ones they aren't at and point them in the right direction. That's what constructive criticism is, why does nobody read the sticky or OP god damnit

>>2816747 Anon, don't take /ic/ so personally. Most of them are cunts who can't draw themselves and repeat memes like "loomis" and "symbol drawing". Study and practice from resources like Michael Hampton Figure drawing and anybody who is on the New Master's academy. I suggest seeing this video

The funny thing is that anon here looks like they actually knows their fundamentals pretty well. The reason why people tell you to draw from life realistically is because it forces you to master the fundamentals. However, just copying what you see isn't going to help you either if you don't understand the 3D forms or gesture. You'll get better as an artist much quicker if you understand what you're seeing in 3D space rather than just replicating what you see as closely as possible, even if you were to stylize it instead. Anon even told the guy who wanted to draw cute anime girls to not learn from him in one of his diagrams, but to learn from the actual source material instead. I'm pretty sure we all know that we should draw from life, it's just that we need help understanding what the fuck we're actually seeing. Don't talk shit when people give good advice and not give useful advice of your own.
