I>f you make art that glorifies loli/shota then you are contributing to pedos being able to get real children since it normalizes the concept.

How do we as artists respond to this without sound sus? Do artists have a responsibility to only make moral art?

I definitely will give up on the idea. Just wondering. I was just thinking about how I'd do it.

1. Pose a female character in Daz 3D with required anatomical attributes

2. Take into zbrush and sculpt some (minimal) clothes on her. Probably sculpt some anime features on her face.

3. Render that shit in Keyshot.

^~4h

4. Draw some line art in Photoshop.

5. Colour it.

6. Overpaint everything. (Basically copying Art Germ's shit on Youtube)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm not saying that I could do it as well as this person but I am saying that doing shit like that wouldn't really be hard compared to other shit... Just saying...

Well if that's your piece you just need to git good. You seem to have the wrong impression of art as a whole. What would you say to a person who applied for fire man school or I don't know. Somebody who wanted to become a doctor? Just study harder or work harder or what ever.

>does that mean im not an artist or at least a shit one?

- Possibly

>Can I become an awesome artist?

- Possibly

I have... The real question is:

>Why haven't you studied any of it?

It's because I'm a stupid, lazy asshole and I'll never be good.

Yeah a lot of those how to draw books aimed at kids teach you really bad fundamentals. I see people shocked that little kids can draw well but it's always if they have a good teacher.

Okay well I'll give you a longer answer then.

Start taking the meds if your mental state requires it. Stop drinking coffee. I drink about 10 cups a day and I often draw while I'm drunk so that's no excuse. You don't have to do line art anyway.

Read the sticky. Study your fundementals. Draw 10h. every day and you'll be mediocre in about 4 years. If you can't concentrate for 6-10 hours get help. There's really no getting around the fact that getting good takes a LOT of time and hard work.

Cheers...

Well it's great that you're reading that stuff! You might want to look at some Andrew Loomis books as well to get your anatomy down.

If you want to bee a concept artist or illustrator for the gaming/movie industry you really need to learn Photoshop too. Learning 3D would also be a good idea nowadays. It also teaches you a lot about how light works etc.

I can't really say much about your drawing. Sorry. It's really an amateur piece but I can see that you put some thought into it which is good.

You should probably practice really basic stuff before trying to create anything elaborate like a hero character with a landscape in the background.

Also look through the stuff in the /ic/ sticky.

>"Drawing is just measuring."
>Alla Prima by Richard Schmid
I can't find the page to get the exact quote, but I remember reading that and thinking it was a pretty cheeky thing for a painter to say. I thought about it more and realized he's mostly right. Most of the work is just measuring accurately.

Pic closely related.

You guys are my last resort. Long story short, I'll be doing a workshop-lecture hybrid in about a month. It's on the basics of costume design, which I'm good at. What I'm not good at is teaching. My biggest fear is that the panel is going to be a two hour version of this picture.

Here's what I already have down to cover:
>Talking about different brainstorming processes for the first 10 minutes
>Color theory: Gotta have the audience know that you can't just smack down your favorite colors and call it a day. I'm including links to some websites where they can make palettes, find other palettes, etc.
>Silhouette, line
>Various fashion terms and styles: The downright basics of costume design basically. Covering all of this would need to be its own panel, but I just want the audience to be aware of what it is that they're drawing.
>How to draw various fabrics, drapery, etc
>Patterns, details: Basically shit like buttons and embroidery that can add a lot to a design but people sometimes overlook

I'm supplying both blank paper and paper with fashion design figures already drawn on them along with a list of the resources I will be mentioning during the panel so people don't leave forgetting what I mentioned in hour one.

Anything else I should cover? If you were in this audience, what would you like to see in a workshop like this? Should I just steal a syllabus from a fashion school?
