Plenty of artists self-publish and earn more that way than working for a publisher. When self-publishing you can earn a lot selling a lot less than you would through a publisher.

Agree, I think it's harder to get attention as a novelist since a lot more people read novels, comics are kind of a niche market but it's easier to attract niches like that.

Yeah, but that's because the guy from One Punch Man (I think, maybe it was another guy) was looking for something diferent, stumbled upon it and liked it, that got the ball rolling so to speak. Now...

Anon, do you think "Being Japanese/Asian" is part of the appeal of Manga? I think the case with Radiant is very particular because one big name mangaka recomended it to people and pushed for it to become a thing so you might be onto something.
