I'm comparing only the aspect of
>consider the sheer importance
>consider that giving up isn't an option
>consider the time frame
All that biological stuff is irrelevant, but I think what you fail to consider is how important art is to him so you cannot just tell him to give up. Imagine how your attitude changes if you see this goal as something you cannot give up on as if the world depended on it, because as seen by his pact art does mean the world to him. But anyways I would like to see how he'd tackle a master study and repaint something like pic related. I tried a master study I didn't post to dad but it made me realize there was more care and color fluctuation in one tiny square of the painting compared to the entirety of my art.
